Welcome to Misty Trail! As urban dwellers with an interest in local source, organic goods we quickly realized that a dairy goat would be a perfect fit for our animal-loving family. In 2006 we acquired our first doeling, a Nubian named Sundae. We quickly realized that the tiny Nigerian Dwarf breed would be a better fit because of our limited space and went to work finding the best bloodlines available to our area.
Today our goal is still excellent milk production. The does are milked primarily to provide milk for our family. We also use the milk to make cheese and yogurt as well as our own soap. * We recently made our soaps available to the public! Please go to our soap page for details.*
With an eye toward conformation, we have continuously worked to improve our herd with outside lines that have both superior show records AND proven dairy pedigrees. Our kids are petite, long bodied, elegant, level backed and have wide escutcheons. They are truly miniature dairy goats. Because we are still building our herd, we tend to retain most doelings for a year inorder to breed them and see exactly what we are producing. Our Nigies are triple registered with AGS, ADGA and NDGA.
When you acquire a kid from us you can rest assured that it is current on hoof care, deworming, immunizations, is negative for CAE/CL and is tame and friendly. Click here to see recent CAE test results. Every goat here is treasured and adored and has come to expect snuggles, smooches and walks. We have healthy does so most of our kids are doe-raised unless there are more than 2 kids in a birth or a kid is weak. In these circumstances we will bottle raise that kid. Inside or out, they all get lots of love!
